Found in 1700/1800s home site that apparently burned. Any ideas? My only guess is umbrella part? Found 18 buttons so far, flat cuffs, dandys, broken tombac. All English made. We are in Ga.

This is a bit of a wild guess, but it could be off the side of an old engineers ruler. I don't know if this will show up or not, but I am trying to load a picture.

Hmmm could be. Growing up I remember my dad had an old carpenters wooden ruler that folded over itself many times and each section had a brass strip like that running down each side.

Thanks guys. Definitely a good guess. Realized today that the piece of "sheet metal" I dug at the site is actually an old hand saw. Rust fell off revealing teeth
