Well, had an unexpected day off and decided to scout a couple areas I found in VA with Google Earth. About 2.5 hour trip. Beautiful day up there and much cooler than TN!
Confirmed an old school needs to be hunted. Gotta go on weekend since school is in session and little school is in its 100th year of continuous use. Middle of nowhere so probably hasn’t been beat to death.
Stopped in a town JD and I have had success knocking. Got a permission right away. Spent 4 hours in the yard. EMI was bad and lots of trash, but I pressed on.
Got the ugliest thinnest Barber Dime I’ve ever found in plug with 1911 and 1919 wheats. The second ugly was a Standing Lady, 1926. First SLQ I’ve dug in over 2 years! Woot.
Had an 1897 Injun, #14 for the Tribe, in my wheat pile. Total of 12 wheats with 1910, 1913, 1916, 1917 and 1919 as oldest.
As for relics I got a very nice N&W (Norfolk & Western RailRoad) Brass Button. Back mark is Marshall Fields & Co.
Got a Silver Plated flat button with back mark that says Warranted Triple Plated.
Virginia continues to be good for me when I make it up there.
