It is heating up outside in my area and I was wanting to start the metal detecting hobby.

I guess to do so I need a metal detector. :)

I am bored all the time with little to do and I think this is something I might like plus it would make for good exercise because I isolate too much.

For the money cause lord knows I don't have a lot what is the best metal detector to buy for a beginner

The Garrett Ace 250 and the White's Prizm II are the best starter machines on the planet. Each are about $200 or so. Steve.

another question

I think I will go with a garrett because I do not know anything about this hobby, but at least I have heard about garrett

is a ace 300 better than an ace 200

I guess I should ask if I can find an ace 300 cheaper than an ace 200 should I buy the ace 300

thanks to all who reply

The Ace 250 is newer technology and I think better. You can read alot of reviews on it here

I had a Ace 250 and it was an enjoyable machine to use, made well/light/target id/you can nothch out targets/pinpoint is good once you get the hang of it/high resale value if you don't like it (but you will)! Steve.
P.S. You can check out Tony's site on the Ace 250 http://tcmetaldetectors.com/garrett-ace-250.htm
He is a great fella to do business with.
Carl is also, here you can check out his site on the Ace 250 http://www.upstatedetectors.com/garrett/garrett-ace250.htm

Welcome to the forum and the family. There are a few choices but the ones mentioned are all good ones. If I can be of any assitance please let me know.
