Coin specialist. Can you help with an identification?
I thought it was a tag first. I think it is a holed coin

I’m no expert but it looks like it could be an early 1900’s George V halfpenny.

Bust is facing right so in my book it could be a King George III.
Affectionately referred to as a KG 3
It could be as old as 1803:D

I found one in 2016 which is an 1803

Looks like this design was minted from 1911 to 1936
I found a 1935 mercury dime in same area
I would say it is more likely toward the end of that mintage

Wow. I think you might be right. I wish I could get a date on it
Thanks
Try rubbing it with olive oil. It may take a couple hours of rubbing but I just had a 1718 coin that was so badly corroded you could see no detail at all. I sent pictures and spoke with a reputable coin dealer in my area and he said it was most likely a lost cause but I could try the olive oil. Amazingly it worked enough to be able to see enough detail to identify the type and date. The coin dealer even verified it for me. Use a soft cloth dipped in the oil and keep rubbing and reapplying right where the date should be. It’s worth a shot anyway if you haven’t tried already.

I am going with a young Victoria as the bust is facing left, and the right side of the head matches the hair style of the early Victoria coins.

Thanks. I’ll give this try tomorrow

Maybe a king Edward VII

The bust is facing right. I have been rubbing it with olive oil. I still can’t see a date, but I am pretty sure the bust is facing right. So I don’t think it is a George V. What do you guys think?

I’m glad the olive oil helped. King Edward looks about right. Do I see an O to the left of the arm on the back? Hard to make out but if it is an O then it may be a Edward VII penny 1902-1910.

Yes, I think you are right. That does look an O, so a one penny not a half penny.
Thanks
I think this is my oldest coin, so far

Hey, nice find! How have you been doing overall? My hunting buddy David has been having health issues, so I've been solo lately, but have had decent finds at the beach. I'd still like to try that soccer field near the state line one of these days...has to be some good stuff there!

I hope David feels better
Things are going good here. I need to meet up with you for a beach hunt sometime, or hit that soccer field.
How has the beach traffic been? Have the finds made it worth it?

I'll tell David that you asked about him.

Yep, we should beach it, before it gets cold. I have found some variety of ring every trip, mostly junk, but a couple or three silver rings, a tungsten wedding band, and Sunday...my first 18K gold ever, a tiny ring (barely fits on the tip of my pinky, but 3.4g nonetheless) that engraved inside "Jesus 11-05-2013". I'm not religious, so I have no idea the purpose, but it was a banging 51/52 signal. Thought it was a shallow nickel. ;)

I got an Xtreme scoop...the X3 Surfmaster in 316 marine stainless with the Trident carbon fiber handle. But, of course, haven't been able to really use it, because I have the ATMax. I am always on the verge of pulling the trigger on the Equinox800, I swear.

Up to 91 rings and over 9600 coins, just plugging away. Literally. lol

I'll text you soon and try to coordinate a hunt...be nice to see you and learn a bit about your experience with the Nox 800.
