The snow in my world is mostly melted and south and west facing slopes are finally diggable. I made it out to my old trash heap of a park and started scanning the open areas near an old stone wall that surrounds the tennis courts I only had about 90 minutes to detect but I was able to uncover a $1.00 in clad in fairly short order. I got a nice solid 30 on the EQ800 but this was a deeper signal than I had been digging, so I was hopeful I was about to dig my first silver quarter. Instead, at about 8 inches I pulled a fairly heavy crown shaped brooch pin. Obviously it used to have some additional stones adorning it and appeared to be costume junk jewelry. It has a yellowish tint to it but it obviously wasn't gold due to the target ID. I threw it in my bucket and headed back to the car. When I got home and took a closer look, I could see the "sterling" clearly stamped on the back.
That explains the signal number but the yellow tint must due to soil composition and/or age.
Anyway it was a fun hunt. Thanks for looking!!
