Default Open Hunt Gilmanton, NH Oct 22

Hope everyone has had a successful summer of detecting.

The crops will soon be coming out of the fields and we're having our next hunt in Gilmanton, NH on an 18th century farm with over 100 acres of land. We'll have access to about 100 acres, approximately 85 of them open fields to hunt on Saturday, October 22nd, 9a - 4p.

Gilmanton is roughly 1:20 drive north of Boston for those of you not familiar with the area.

Tickets are $90 for adults, $45 for teens 13-17, and free for kids 12 & under with a paid adult and can be purchased here: www.dirtfishingadventures.com

Light snacks, a port a potty, and a free raffle (including an ATPro) will be provided. See the blog in the above link for more details.

Hope to see you there!

"Seeded hunt or all real world hunt ?"
______________________________

Good question

Dirt Fishing Adventures is primarily focussed on gaining permission on locations with lots of history for natural hunts that individuals might not otherwise have the opportunity to detect; this is code for we pay the landowners a rental fee.

That being the case, there is a percentage of people who like a seeded hunt and we attempt to make everyone happy by providing a clearly designated seeded area for whomever wishes to work that area. Of course, natural finds are likely to turn up in the seeded area just as they would elsewhere.

Feel free to post any questions here and we'll continue to check it regularly, or email Brian@DirtFishingAdventures.com

Are people going to be allowed to detect around the house, barn and any other structures on the land? At your last hunt, no one was allowed within 100 feet of the house and barn, which seriously limited the finds. If that's the case again, you should clearly state that fact in your ad.

Good questions Tim, I will get further clarification from the owner.

I can tell you that there isn't much of a yard at all on this house.

It's a working farm and most of the area immediately around the house is a hard packed dirt parking lot/driveway. The amount of yard there wouldn't take very long to clean out with a few people working it.

Stay tuned for more details as I get them.

Thanks for asking.

Update: Stef Digs of Youtube fame will be coming to the hunt on October 22.

Stef is as good or better than anyone I've ever seen at identifying finds so it's really great to have her coming.

Stef always makes good videos of her hunts so there is a decent chance you could end up in her video of the hunt.

Hope to see you there!

Seriously considering this. Be about a 13 hour drive for me though, so we see.

To answer Tim's question, we will have full access to the property other than the cowpens near the barn for obvious reasons.

The property is well over 100 acres and is about 85% open fields now, and was nearly 100% open fields in a 1951 aerial photo.

The weather prediction is a high of 62 and sunny.

Tickets and more information are available here: https://dirtfishingadventures.com/upcoming-events
