Brilliant but also difficult and divisive, he burned so many bridges in hollywood that he never received an Oscar, a Lifetime Achievement Award or any other major accolades most thought he was due...except from the French.
Very outspoken and sometimes wildly inappropriate but he didn't care...long ago he decided his body of work would speak for him best.
In the early days Martin and Lewis were the biggest thing out there, their nightclub act was legendary and no comedy act before or since was ever bigger and that success followed them into the movies.
I was watching the telethon when Sinatra got them back together after not speaking a word to each other for 20 years...that was huge.
Some major ups and downs but he got through them all and as Sinatra used to to sing he did it his way.
