All you water hunters know the feeling when the scoop comes out of the water and you take a look with the sun shining in and see the glint of yellow and silver but then you pull it out and you know it’s too light , so that was the first ring nice looking but no markings-SS. Towards the end of the hunt I get another ring looks to be either junk or silver. I figure at least I didn’t get skunked if it’s silver. Get home and turns out to be marked 375. Never thought it would be gold being that color. Usually I’ve seen green on gold but not just brown tarnish. Course I’ve never found any 9K before😀 thanks for looking and good luck out there

Congrats on the gold! I love those "stamps" on the inside of the ring. I don't think most cheap jewelry makers would go through the trouble of adding such fancy markings.

Nice find!! I've found one that was similar to yours. Big congrats, it looks to be very old by those markings.

:dingding: Congrats! I've never dug 9K so that's pretty cool.

thanks-yes I've never found anything that had so many stamps

I've seen low karat gold (like 10k) turn discolored if it's been in salty mineralized brine for enough decades.

Well, I’ll take a stab at the hallmarks. I think the anchor is Birmingham (England) and the P looks like the date letter for 1939. There is another p used for 1914 but I think it’s smaller. Nice find!

Thanks Ramble-not having dealt with 9k gold before I figured it had been in the water for quite a while but didn't figure it was that old a ring.

I've found a lot of gold that is tarnished, even 18k.
18k will develop a film over it that comes off very easily
