I went to a new location today. It was hot out and then there was a thunder storm shortening the trip so I only got to dig about half of the area that I wanted. I found a nice mix of items there including a pile o' clad, an old match safe, a silver ring, a draft horse shoe, some colonial iron pieces, and this interesting shield pin with a design on it. Any thoughts the date of on this shield item or the design? I will be going back tomorrow, hopefully it won't be as hot as today.

I have a flat button with a hallmark similar to that shield design. Be interesting if anyone knows what it is. My button came up in a colonial & civ area I hunt.

I think it is of barley stalks.

I believe your shield looking item is horse tack, I just cant recall where it was used. It might have went on the end of the saddle bag strap. Theres usually two little teeth on the back, which I believe were meant to hold it in the leather. Really nice finds, good luck out there!
