May i introduce a new UK club? The Wessex Searchers. We kicked off last January. Have had 15 club digs so far. The club is organised by, and for the members.( Following a mass resignation from a previous club)

It sounds like you've done well Keith. I belonged to a club for many years,
in the South East of England. Over a period of about 6 years, it went down
hill very quickly. Too many rogues, and those more worried about selling
their finds to the highest bidder, than being interested in the history of their
finds..
