Fractional gold pieces almost always command high premiums over spot price, smaller the coin, higher the premium. That’s why I like the large coins like the gold 50 Peso, 1.2 oz. gold with low premium over spot. I believe the best deals are sovereign gold pieces.

I consider .9999 Canadian maples a nice 24k gold coin with low premium.
Premium on a 1/10 oz. is 12%
Premium on a 1 oz. is only 4%

Btw, I have two quart jars full of clad, one is full of pennies. I don’t dig a lot of it, but that’s about three or four years worth.

It may take you an entire day to separate the coppers out alone .

With the Gold I sold:

I spent a bit of my hard dug , earned clad dollars on one cent . I figured the chances of me digging one are next to none .

I only found $85 this year so I cashed it in and went to the casino. A few hours later I had won an additional $370. Can I count this as finds since I had my pinpointer in my pocket??

I’ll probably just blow it all at the casino next weekend.
