Do you clean your Buffs?

Do you clean your Buffs and how so? I have several with dates that are the typical brown/green. I'm on the fence with this. I have seen utube videos where they come out a matt grey colored, but that doesn't look natural to me, but maybe still better than how they look coming out of the ground? Thoughts welcomed.
 
After determining value and condition,
I have good luck with steel wool, yes steel wool on buffs and V's

Wow steel wool it is! Those look fantastic! I have a zip loc freezer bag full of random dug coins. Might have to dig out all the shields, V's, and buffs now.
 
is this fine steel wool or any steel wool?

I learned about steel wool here long ago, only on nickels.
Any on hand works, don't like brillo pads, to much soap to work out and it's to fine a steel wool
 
Getting rough on the buffs. Not for everyone but I like them. Clean out the pitting and see what’s left..first cleaned of 7 buffs so far this year..no chemicals, soft brass brush..

only the three legged buff avail to find away. make them shine! love but little to no value. i have about 50 v nickels same way. cool but collectible value.. zilch. still cool. its your coins do as you please. looks better than a piece of crusted !!!!.
