Brass oval object found

Found this brass oval object today at a known Civil War skirmish site. It is 1.4 inches long and 1 inch wide with a scalloped pattern along the edge and 7 etched straight lines across the center. Does anyone know what this is or if it is civil war related? Thanks!

I think it is an unstamped plate that was used to I’d something. Maybe a chest or a supply box of something.
