Artillery fuse!

Found this artillery fuse 10 inches deep. Also found the plug 50 yards from where the fuse was found. Also found a few small musket balls, a percussion cap, and a Smith .50 bullet.

Cool find, Hotchkiss fuse. Not sure what the brass plug went to, this fuse had a Paper Timed fuse stuffed in the cavity. Side view pic of the plug ?

Artillery fuse

Congratulations. Not a lot of those found. Only found one in all my years detecting and it was nowhere near any civil war area. They have quite a value to collectors. I sure would hit that area as much as you can. There might be more.
