Hi All, new to this forum so apologies if I’m posting in the wrong place. I was recently doing some ground work for a family member at the Rhiw goch inn which is in wales in a town call Bronaber and I came across this pendant. A friend of mine said it was silver but I’m unsure can anyone shed any light on this item for me as I’m very curious about it as it seem different from the other types of pendants in this style. I’m unsure if I should clean it as a friend said it can lose its value but I have no clue any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

You are not going to damage it cleaning it as already mentioned its silver plate or wash on top of brass or copper...

Looks like a variation of a Roman Catholic St. Christopher medallion. Some are marked sterling and some are just plated. I only have found one and it's been so long since I looked at it I don't remember what's on the reverse side. I could be wrong.

Christian scapular pendant. Sacred heart Jesus on the front and it looks like you have Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the reverse side. I've found several similar type pendants, but usually I find ones with St Christopher or the virgin mother Mary. Search online for images of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel". You can tell it's her.
Yours does not look like silver. It looks like a plated one, as mentioned, from the 20th century. If you can clean it to make it look better, go for it.

Thanks everyone for all the information you have provided me, definitely know more about the item now than what I did last week. I’ll give it a good clean and see if it looks any better. Any recommendations for what I should use to clean it.
