Spent the weekend hunting with a buddy of mine in Abilene, TX. We were hunting an area that was recently cleared of old houses for new development. About 6" of soil had been removed and we were hopeful that it would be a good spot. Right off we started finding older clad coins then things got good. We got into a spot that was full of wheaties and old toys. Then I hit a solid 26 on the Nox and scored a Merc. Then not two feet away on my next swing another solid 26. I thought "wouldn't it be cool if it was another Merc". I popped the hole and there it was! Another Merc! The hunt was awesome! Robert and I each got silver, I scored a cool 1930's era pocket watch. I found a neat Tootsie jaguar (reminded me of the one I had as a kid) it would have been in one piece had I not split it in half with my shovel #$%!!. Probably the best find of the weekend was made by Robert. It was getting dark and he had an iffy signal right between the two of us as we were wrapping things up. It was down about 8" and when he found it, it looked like an old piece of rusted can. We shown a light on it and holy cow! A 1911 Odd Fellows badge. What a way to end the day! Hope all of you have a productive 2019 and Happy Hunting!!!
