hi
Michigan Badger-
"By the way, do you know what the "Peace Sign" originally stood for?"

i have heard a couple different stories Badger- from nuclear disarmament to a symbol of death. what's your take on it?
jim

p.s. this was my second "peace" kite, i forgot the bottom leg in the symbol on the first one and didnt notice it until i flew it and ended up with a big mercedes logo. surprised when it sold.

I build these snow buckets that replace the dirt buckets for winter use. Built 6 of them. A LOT of work.

I made some ducks. One is made from Red Oak. I made them with a band saw and then a dremel. These were made in the 90s

Great thread! I'm impressed!

Here's what we have been making lately... Wooden Spoons!

What happened was.... we went camping and forgot the forks and spoons. So Vlad says, "I'll make us a spoon."

So he cut a piece of dried cottonwood branch, axed it in half, and started whittling it. He used hot coals to burn the center of the spoons out.

He made two spoons and a spatula that camping trip.

When we got home, he made some special cutting knives for the center of the spoons.

But it didn't stop there, we kept making them!

spoon4.jpg

Now I have a whole collection of wooden spoons! :D

We have no idea what type of wood this is. It was a log in our firewood pile.

I heard pretty much what you wrote. The big one is nuclear disarmament and I believe now that is the "official" source of the symbol.

Back in the early 70's many tried to say it was a broken Christian cross turned upside down. Some even called it "the footprint of the great American chicken."

The talent represented on this forum just astounds me!

I'm even getting close to posting some pictures of some of my oil paintings.

I'm working on a batch now and I'll post some pictures before they're sold or whatever.

Keep posting! This is your thread.

How well do the model boats do in water that isn't true to scale?

To those not knowing about model scale this may seem weird but even water has a scale size. My wife builds mini homes and she clued me in on the water scale problem when doing miniature fountains with real running water.

I think they do much better than remote controlled airplanes built to scale.

Vlad is one amazing person! If that had happened to us I would have said: Honey, they made hands before spoons.

I have this friend who does antique auctions and she is always on the lookout for old carved bowls and spoons. I saw one bowl with a very high price tag.

I've always wondered how they tell the old from the new. Maybe the patina?

I've seen scattered postings of rings and other cool stuff but how about one thread to show what you make.

I know there must be many very interesting products out there. Maybe some of you who almost never post could share in this one too?

What do you make?
