Best to go with a PI detector or a multifreqiency detector? I won some money at the casino that is burning a hole in my pocket! Currently have the simplex which isnt very good in wet sand.
Either machine will be good. PI will be better in "less" trash infested sites. Multi-freq a better all around detector. What did you win ? Any favorite machines ? Mine is the buffaloes.
You are going to be hunting the beaches around San Luis Obispo, right ? If so, I would not be using a pulse machine. Lest you be digging bobby pins, bent nails, etc.... The only reason for a pulse machine is if your beaches have nasty black sand. Which, if I recall from my hunts in your area, is *not* a problem.
Today's standard beach discriminators can do *almost* the same depth as most beach pulse machines (barring earring studs or tinsel thin chains). So I personally would not be bothering with beach pulse machines, IMHO.
If CA ever get beach erosion going on, to create non-stop targets to-choose-from on your beaches, then : Speed becomes the name-of-the-game. And you do *not* want to be dogged down with sparkler wires, nails, bobby pins, etc.... when that day comes.

I won 2k on the buffalo machines betting $2.50. It was right when i walked in the door... i decided to go to the high rollers room and bet a lot more than 2.50 and hit a big bonus worth 75 free games... walked out up $8,000. Might as well blow some of it on the manticore, right?
