Sterling made by the artisan Jeronimo Fuentes, found by myself. There were 11 of us from our club RPDC who started off the day by getting together for breakfast at a local casino. We then headed over to one of our local parks for a club hunt. We had perfect weather, although, it was a little chilly early on. Combined coin count, our club members found over 200 coins. In addition, several pieces of jewelry were found, one being nothing more than bling. A wheat back penny was found by Ules. Once again, a great day, doing what we all love to do, detect.

Nice Work Team! Interesting post! Well documented Group Hunt!!

Its interesting to look at the individual finds shots and evaluate the differences in the finds..from the same site on the same day....doing the pouch dumps at the end of a group hunt is always a good time!

Great stuff and great photos!
I wonder what your definition of "chilly" is (21 degrees with snow here this morning)
We have had a club here for over two years now and I really look forward to seeing the guys every month:D

Love group outings as its always fun to share the experience. Congrats on the Sterling Tom and all the rest. Really like seeing the pictures of everybody's finds. Also the breakfast picture made me feel comfortable, knowing I'd blend in with the white haired bearded bunch of outlaws sitting at that table. Trapper

The 8.9 Sterling is a pendant of Thor’s Hammer (Mjölnir in Norwegian) Pronounced Mee Yol Neer. Very nice find! I have one hanging from my rear view mirror. I’m of Norwegian descent.

A really big thanks for the info. I was wondering what the meaning was of the pendant. I did some research on the initials on it's back "JF". From what I could ascertain, the initials were those of a artisan by the name of Jeronimo Fuentes who apparently was a silversmith.

My definition of "chilly" is anything less than 72 degrees. Actually, the temperature at 6am that morning was 19 degrees. Burr! It's always a great time getting together with like minded people.

You guys are older then the oldest coin I found ,,,, ,,,, congrats on a group of friends to share in what you enjoy doing ,,,, :friends:

Interesting you bring up our ages. Ules, the gentleman with the cowboy hat is 78 years old. When we water hunt, he's usually the first one in the water and the last one out. On this park hunt, he was the last one back to the cars. He makes us younger people look like wimps.

Awesome group hunt report! I am wondering if that silver Thor hammer is from Norway, or another country in that region, and not Taxco, Mexico? The JF could be another maker's mark, like Jorgen Frandsen of Denmark?
The style doesn't match Fuentes' style. Any other marks on it? That piece is a great find.

Good question, was wondering that myself. From what I read, JF was a artisan who was known to work in Taxco, Mexico. That would make it odd that a artisan from Mexico would be making jewelry indicative to Norway. That actually makes more sense. However, when I Googled JF, the name Jorgen Frandsen didn't come up in my search.

There are 3 things stamped on the back of the piece. The initials JF, Sterling and U10. After a little more research, I come to find on a chart indicative to Norway, U10 represents the year "1994". I guess rules out it being from Mexico. Thanks for the additional info.

I would like to make a change to my first assessment pertaining to the silver piece I found. With the help of others here on the forum, I come to find the piece is actually the Hammer of Thor or "Thor's Hammer". I'm not absolutely certain, but I think the artisan might be Jorgen Frandsen.

I did a quick search for JF makers marks on 925-1000.com. I found none for Norway, but two names of Danish makers listed with JF marks.

Jorgen was just an example/possibility.
Not a lot of info about their work, though. Must be another silversmith, if U10 is a Norway date code.
If it was from Taxco, it would have Taxco and Mexico stamps on it, so that is definitely ruled out.
