Two years at the same spot and still finding the good stuff

Went to the very small park around the corner from my house and pulled a 1943 Merc, a 1944 Wheat penny and this earring that could've been silver, but it's a junker. The weird thing about the earring is that the back piece was still on it. I'm guessing that some little girl had it in her pocket and lost it.

Just another example of a place never being truly "worked out". Congratulations on a great looking Mercury Dime and the wheat penny.:D

Nice Merc! Do you think the silver was extra deep, or had your coil just never run across the spot at the right angle?

I found the Merc at a depth of 3-4 inches. My guess is that I never had my coil over it.

That is the best lesson for all of us to learn... we all miss targets because it is always an incomplete sweep of the area. That is especially true of large areas without reference markers. Put a string around an 8 ft. by 8 ft area, and you can probably hit it all. Walk out onto a soccer field without sectioning it off, and you cannot hit it all.

Good news :oldguy: There is most probably even more silver to discover!
