Even the frogs on the Willimantic, Conn. Frog Bridge are wearing their masks.

They want to make sure they don't croak...

Ultimate dad joke .... you're welcome!

Thats a great statue, what does it represent ?
There are two things the bridge represents. The frog is sitting atop a spool of thread because Willimantic, Conn. is known as the "Thread city" having a huge thread mill known as "American Thread" that while no longer in operation dates back to the 1800's. Textiles were a huge part of the town's economy. There are actually frogs on each corner of the bridge which was built in the year 2000.
The frog relates to the famous "1754 Windham Frog Fight". In 1754 the area was in the midst of a prolonged drought causing many ponds and streams to dry up. One night the people of Windham heard a horrible screeching and didn't know what was causing the commotion. Some thought it was an Indian attack while others thought it was the work of the devil. The next morning it was discovered that thousands of frogs had killed each other in their quest to get the last few drops of water to drink from a pond. Pictured is the mill as it stands today and also a plaque commemorating the frog fight. The story of the frog fight was on the "Mysteries at the Museum" TV show a few years back.

I was wondering, have the frogs gone the way of the thread mill??

The thread mill dates back to the 1800's and went out of business many years ago but I'm not sure of exactly when. My mother worked there for a couple of years in the 1950's. The Frog Bridge was built around 2000 replacing an old road and bridge into the town.
