Readers may enjoy seeing what my son Jason found on July 2nd, 2019.. He lives in the gold rush country of California, on an old mining property where there used to be a gold mine that produced millions. There were many buildings, but all that is left now is foundations and burned out structures. He has a Whites Treasure Pro detector and finds quite a lot with it. I told him he should grid search an old burned down hotel / saloon which is nothing more than a plowed field now. We learned this hotel burned and was rebuilt two more times and burnt each time! But you can still see the outline of where it was. He started grid searching a 10 X 20 foot area and soon got some good signals between 6 and 9 inches down. First he dug not one, but 3 Barber Halfs in a 3 foot area, an 1899-S, a 1900-S, and a 1915-S. If that wasn't enough, before he was done he had found not one but four Barber dimes! Their dates are, 1892-S, 1892-S, 1896-S, and 1898-O! If that wasn't enough he also dug 3 Mercury dimes! A 1918-S, a 1923-S, and a 1929-S! I'm still in shock, as my bucket list coin is a Barber half and here he digs 3 of them! Some of the Barber dimes are not in very good shape due to being burnt, but I'd give anything to find an 1896-S barber.....557,000 mintage! Needless to say.....he is heading back out soon to see if there might be a gold coin there! Darn kids.....LOL

Looks like he has an excellent spot to detect, Congrats to him for some scarce Barbers! I would return there until machine ran quiet.

Gold pan you wear your pride of your son well. You have very good reason to do so, as Jason has found the art of adventure which seems to be his fathers dream. Skills, research and effort brought him to the rewards. A huge congrats for those fine rewards he has earned. Trapper

Thanks so much Trapper....I'll pass this message on to him. He almost didn't tell me because he didn't think I'd believe him! It reminds me of my one and only cache I've ever found, I've never posted it because I didn't have a camera that day & no documentation except the coins & container they were in. It was an old 1950s bird seed jar with almost 100 buffalo nickels and 7 silver dollars in it. That will teach me not to take a camera....lol

Wow! That is awesome. That is a day to remember for sure! Congrats to you and your son! Hope to see more great finds from that site. HH & GL!
