Actually, Grumpa is not a legal participant in the " Spam 500" race . Grumpa heisted some Spam from the local market and his making his getaway. He is using the actual race as a diversion from the police in pursuit . There is nothing as cunning and as a desperate "Spamhead " needing his fix !

He needs to turn himself in to the authorities and also Spamaholics Anonymous ! The Spam overdoses are messing up his mind .Example:
Who else would be in a swimming pool throwing full-grown Siberian Tigers into the air .
