Hi all. I have completely redone my blog and review site http://mdgear.com

I'm looking to partner up with retailers and manufacturers who would like an honest video review of their gear. And hope my site will become the best resource (other than this forum of course :D )

Let me know what you think! If you'd like to submit a review please contact me here or through the site.

It's a work-in-progress. Especially the history and gear pages.

The Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/metaldetectinggear

Looking for a relationship with a dealer

MD Gear is looking for a retailer to partner with. In exchange for gear to shoot video reviews on, I'll provide sponsor mentions and ad space on mdgear.com. All gear will be returned in pristine condition or given away in contests if the retailer should desire. Even used gear will do.

I created MDGear.com because the net needs more reviews of detecting gear.

It would be ideal if you have an Amazon Store as I'm an affiliate there.

Admins, not sure where else to put this, move if you must.

Looks pretty well set up, minus go pro cost
What's the investment on it?

Sorry just saw this. Well the GoPro Hero 4 Black was $499 but it's down to $429. (http://amzn.to/1TLjofu) I think the Hero 4 Silver is a better way to go. Despite wanting 4k I've never shot in it and the touchscreen on the Silver is very nice and handy.

The Edutige lav mic is nice because it doesn't require batteries . $73 (http://amzn.to/1Tuxb7q)

GoPro Mic adapter $20 (http://amzn.to/1TLjqUB)

GoPro Frame $22 (http://amzn.to/1TuxoHS)

2x Novobeam USB Charger $22 (http://amzn.to/1WKIwFD)

Rode Lav wind muff $25 (http://amzn.to/1WKJv8E)

Hat $12 lol

So $603 total.

You could knock this down by getting a Hero 4 Silver, or even one of the Chinese made $100 knockoffs (they can be powered externally). I do strongly suggest either an external mic with wind muff, or glue some faux fur over the mic or back of open case. Wind noise sucks.

I've tried lots of configurations. I wanted a hat mounted camera that I could turn on and not touch for up to 6 hours. Changing batteries or starting and stopping the GoPro just introduces mud into the works. Even with the waterproof case, it's a pain to have something else to think about. I wanted the GoPro remote to be a solution for saving battery life, but you have to have WIFI running and that drains just as much battery starting/stopping as leaving it on the whole time. Plus the battery of the remote doesn't last.

GoPro is designed to film a base jump, not anything for a long period of time. I think I found the best solution, but I'm open for suggestions!
