I've been playing around with https://www.historicaerials.com and came across this baseball field. Here is what it looked like in 1950 (that's the oldest aerial photo I could look at.) The other picture is what it looks like today. I put the Nel Thunder coil on and searched deep. Hit a few wheat pennies that got me hoping there was some silver to be found.. I came across a dream signal... 89-90 on the AT Max at 10 inches. Repeated from all angles and pinpointed tight. I cut out a larger than normal plug flap and when I lifted the flap back, saw a beautiful large reeded silver edge! Thought for sure I had another Walker. Turns out to be a 1953 Ben Franklin half. My first! Thanks for looking. Those big silvers are still out there to be found.

Nice detective work! you can barely see the infield on that newer aerial, without the older picture it wouldn't have been easy to figure out!

Now thats a trophy of a find there Stiffy! Wild dirt BF Halfs are harder to find than Walkers ...Great post and pics and research to track down that elusive Bald Head Ben! Akin to stalking and harvesting P&Y Elk with a home made recurve!...Congratulations and very happy for you! Surgical!

A rare find indeed - congrats on the Franklin Half !

I've found (7) Walking Half's and (26) Kennedy Half's but I've never found a Franklin.
