Found this at the beach. Copper, worn way down on the edges and very thin. Says liberty on top, bust faces right, and says "In God We Trust" on the left side of the bust. The backside has a perched eagle very similar to the backside of a quarter, but not the same. Token of some sort? Play money? Or???

Looks like a Quarter to me, GW

Ya know, I think youre right. It is one corroded quarter, smaller and thinner, but i can barely make out the bust of washington. Has all the markings for it. The only thing I dont understand is why the "Liberty" is incused (sunk) rather than raised.

When the "Liberty" was raised the corrosion took place on the sides of the raised letters. Eventually, the corrosion completely under-cut the letters and they fell/broke off to below the coin's 'surface'.

I have some old Large Cent coins that I 'over cleaned' and the raised letter fell off leaving indented letters.

Thanks Waltr! Learned something new.
