Button experts assistance needed

I found this button an hour ago at the site of an old farm. It appears to be either silver or silver washed and is a two piece button. I am thinking its from the civil war era and is a military button. If you recognize it please let me know if my assumptions are right. Thanks!

Not much to see on the reverse. Itís pretty corroded. The button is about 1 and 1/16 in diameter.

I was going to say it would be an indication that it is a civilian button...before I saw the picture. I see the back isnít rusted out but just a lot of crud on it. Try and see if you can clean it a little more to reveal what the back mark says.
