I posted this bullet in the ID my find section, nobody could ID. Try here & see if someone knows. I found this bullet in a known Civil War area where troops passed thru. From my research, I think it's a .577 Linder Carbine bullet. It appears someone started to whittle it into something before losing it. ? Any help appreciated .Hopefully the pics are attached.

I wouldn't want to call that bullet without holding it And then I'm not sure how accurate we could be. But if your bullet is in fact a .58 cal, than the Lindner .58 cal is the closest thing I see in Thomas' book.

Duggap, Thx for the reply! I too feel it's a Lindner. Just being in PA made me question it.

Did Godzilla exist in the 1800's? You can see eyes carved in.

Teo12, what do you mean by hospital bullet?

Looks like an animal cow, whatever found it and chewed on it. I have found a lot of bullets with those marks. There animal teeth marks. They used a leather strap between the teeth when operating to b prevent the man from biteing his tounge.

Think of it as whittling, just on a lead bullet.
