Looking into the 9" M9 coil for my Manticore , I do a bit of beach hunting but I also have access to hunt cellar holes and old homesteads . After what I've been reading about the M9 coil it would seem to me to be a good option around cellar holes and such where there may be a lot of trash . I see some folks like it so much they leave it on the machine full time . Any thoughts on it ?

The M9 lives on my Manticore full time. To me, it’s the perfect balance of size, depth and weight. It’s noticeably thinner and has less supports than other coils, so it’s considerably lighter which makes the whole detector balance much better. The depth difference between the M9 and M11 is minimal. You can get away with running the sensitivity a touch higher with the M9. The smaller diameter makes it easier to maneuver in tight places.

Came here to say this 👆

Also, if they came out with a 6” coil for the manticore I’d probably get one. I had the 6” for the Nox 900 and it came in handy for tot lots and heavy brush.

I agree with Rattlehead, had mine well over a year and haven’t ever taken it off.

Like others have said l too have the m9 coil and l use it all the time. I have the m8 as well as the stock coil and l almost never use them.
I was originally thinking of getting the M9 coil and just using it on cellar/homestead hunts and going back to the standard M 11 for beach or field hunts ,but looking at all the comments in favor of the M9 looks like I'll have to rethink that . Thanks for the responses ;)

Thanks for the response . Looks like there is quite a positive consensus on the M9 coil , mine will be here next week .

Minelab should offer Manticore option with M9 coil when buying unit package.
I told them this some time ago. Btw
Women, Seniors, etc - would fit them better.
Minelab might sell more units doing too.
I don't think Minelab would sell more Manticores by doing that. I think they would even lose profit by doing that.

People buy a Manticore because they really want a Manticore. It doesn't matter to them that they'll probably end up buying the M9 coil...and that's what Minelab banks on.

I think differently. Oh well.
Xp offers 9” coil option with package, and a 11” and a 11x13” coil.

The big “M”.
Never count them out.
I agree. Would love to see the M9 offered as an option. When I bought my last Manticore, I already knew that I wanted the M9 based off of testing on my buddy's detector. Matter of fact, the M9 coil was the primary reason I wanted to buy another Manticore. Since it wasn't offered as an option, I bought the package that came with the M8, M11 and M15. Then I sold the M8 & M15 and used that money to buy the M9. My M11 sits in the closet collecting dust. Would've been much more convenient if we could just buy it with the M9.

I get what Diga is saying from Minelab's standpoint, but from the customer's prospective, a lot of people looking to buy a Manticore already know about the M9 based off of threads like this one, and they want it. So having to jump through hoops and spend extra money to buy it separately could deter potential buyers.

"I want a Manticore, but I'm not buying one because it doesn't come with the M9 coil as stock", said absolutely no one 😉

I will say that not coming with the M9 coil did not deter me from wanting or getting a Manticore in the slightest , but that's me . I got the Manticore because of reviews/capabilities in stock configuration . Once I got it and started learning it and hunting with it did I get curious about the M9 coil. I would say I am probably an average customer in MineLabs eyes .

How about “I really want a Manticore with the M9 coil that everyone keeps praising, but that’s well over $1500. Meh, maybe I’ll just get the Legend for less than half that price.”

Ya think anyone ever said that? 😉
