I have a couple of unusual coins that I believe were worn as good luck charms. A 164 AD Romain coin, and a Mexican 2 Reale whose date is worn off, but my oldest US coin I found at a site on the Santa Fe Trail. An 1835 capped bust half dime. My Avatar.

Not bad for southwest Kansas.

Oldest coin in the US: 1835 Capped Bust half dime (also dug a Matron Head LC that could be older, but is dateless)

Maybe my favorite coin: 1817 George III half sovereign!

My oldest US coin is a 1787 Fugio Cent and my oldest coin is a 1720's Spanish 2 Reale. No picture of the Reale available.

Oldest with a date I was told by people that know more than me it’s a 1700s coin but the date is incorrect because it’s a mills counterfeit

Found a month ago, an 1864 two-cent piece. Thought it was old till I saw all these coins from the 1700's!

This was found on the edge of a steep bluff with very tall and thick ground cover on the hill side.

But I just spotted an area of the hill side that is just bare dirt under a canopy of trees and plan on hunting that soon.

I just found this photo of several gentlemen standing within 20 feet of the spot where I found my 1864 two-cent coin. The men were photographed in 1894 standing next to a popular Michigan landmark
