Pretty amazing stuff! I haven't done much metal detecting in the water, but I've done enough to know what a hassle it is just to get one target in the scoop.

Here's the thing that gets me...
1 million dollars value. They get to keep $800k. Divided among the whole crew...after several months of searching. It can't work out to that much of a salary, can it? Maybe for a find this size, but the last one this size was in 1990 they said. Sounds like a great job if you already have enough money to live on. I guess you get speaking engagements and such too. I'm trying to figure out how they make enough money to live on.

I kinda chuckled when I saw the dollar amount. With the price of gold and silver right now, I didn't think it would take too many coins to hit that mark, even just looking at melt value. 😂

Great read...thanks for posting it

Felix keep in mind however , to hunt in leased water territory , you need to go down to Mel Fisher's museum & anti up the $1000.00 US , get a lease permit every year, & give the state of Florida- tagging every item , turning it over to them, - taking 20% of the treasure , giving you back 80 % , wonder if Scoundrel can chime in , on the guidelines, how exactly it works, and how long it takes to get your 80% back :?:

For that much money and trouble I could just walk into a Mel Fisher Museum and "detect" a silver Reale with a credit card.

Facts. As much as i would love to find my own. Still have the possibility to. I had to buy a couple to kill the itch. That said im packed and ready when ever time is right
