After about 13 or 14 years, my Etrac died. Bought it new in Ohio and was awesome in the dirt and pulled some nice CW relics when I lived in Virginia. I'm now retired in Myrtle Beach and looking for a new machine primarily for beach hunting. I've got a budget of around $600-800. I've owned a Ace 250 (first detector), Garrett 2500 and the Etrac. Doing some searches and research but so many choices that all look alike. I won't need a machine as versatile as the Etrac but don't want an entry level one either.... Thanks

I don't know what your budget is, but that would be a good starting point. If under $1,000, the Equinox 800 and Nokta Legend seem to get a lot of attention. Both offer simultaneous multi-frequency capabilities. Both are durable and fully submersible up to 10 feet. Both are equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery. Audio features are similar, both feature high-resolution Target ID, advanced discrimination settings, and customizable search modes.

The 800 is typically priced higher due to its advanced technology and established brand reputation, while the Legend is generally more affordable while still offering many of the high-end features, making it an attractive option for those seeking value for money.

I decided on the Legend just over a year ago and haven't looked back. Let us know what you end up getting.

Decided to go with an Equinox 700. Liked a lot of the features over the 800 and didn't need everything it offered for what I'm going to be using it for. Nice deal from Big Boys Hobbies helped seal the deal.
Good choice. I think you’ll be very happy once you learn it. Happy hunting!

much nicer shaft than the 800.

Congrats on your new detector. I have the 900 and love it.
Was leaning towards that one, until the Minister of Finance and Budget Reconciliation (MFBR) pointed out some payments for goods related to my diorama building hobby. Those net sums exceeded the dollar amount established before proper authorization and approval were needed. The funds in question were then deducted from my upper budget limit.. ....lol True

Congrats on buying a 700, let us know how you like it.

Funny thing about wives. They can go out and spend willy nilly on any darn thing they fancy. At our household Amazon delivers almost daily things my wife ordered. She will say something like, it was only a $100. But $100 * 7 days = a nice detector. But let me buy a new detector she says I really don't need a new detector. Like she knows anything about a detector. She would not know the difference between A Manticore or Ace 250.
