I planned on my 2nd hunt of 2026 for yesterday. This time I took Noxy. Merlin is having a battery issue which I ordered one already, and NuBlu is currently on my back-up shaft. Anyway, the Nox is still under warranty, so I figured I should take advantage of it. We had a chill in the last week which was enough for me to put on my thin surfer vest – especially with the early cloudy weather. Funny, since the chill started, I haven’t seen any other pirates out there. “No cold, no gold” ;). The big gold “junk ring” came early in the hunt after 30 minutes. It was a “2” on Noxy and it sounded terrible. I immediately thought it was stainless with how light it was. (Later, I would learn it was an Oura ring, and they sell for a lot!) About 1.5 hours into the hunt, I got to a sanded near shore area that I was going to go back deep and go around, or climb out. However, I noticed the shoreline was higher and different than the rest of the area :ehh:, so I decided to go into it and work it. I got a not so good sounding “11-12” and was surprised when a greenie nickel came up. Shortly afterwards, I get a better sounding “14-15”. Of course I was thinking PT when I pulled up the 2nd scoop :dingding:. Immediately, I knew it was good! So my gold for the day was accomplished.

On my return, came the earring that was another bad sounding “1-2”. I thought those numbers were a good sign, but I hadn’t noticed that the post was gold, so I thought “probably stainless”. Near the end of the hunt came the junk ring and right after came the crown ring which I initially thought was good even though it sounded terrible and had numbers lower than “10”. I ended my hunt after 4 hours and examined the finds in my truck. The crown ring is unmarked and cracked, so I now think “fake”. The cross ring is marked 14K. I see “Oura” inscribed in my “junk ring” - my 1st. Since the earring was with the coins I forgot to check it. It was only when I got home and took out the coins and noticed that the post on the earring was gold. I get my jeweler’s loupe and see “585” at the base of the post. :dingding:. Later, in the evening, I would revisit the crown ring. I took a magnet to it and nothing. :ehh:. I then sanded the back of the ring and no change – still a lovely gold. 👍I then acid tested it. 10K pass, 14K pass and 18K holds for a while before disappearing. Another gold!:dingding: The ring is at least 14K. So 3 14K golds for the hunt! I couldn’t believe it and it’s the best start to any year I’ve ever had. :clapping:

Hell, I'm only 23 caps away from that goal already. 🤣
Good job... ;) find a used Sov GT and you won't dig bottlecaps anymore... you want to get wet the Excal.... An awesome dirt machine I tried at beach once, the Teknetics T2 had a killer bottlecap program never dug one again... it was amazing its just a hard detector to use around powerlines that is why I parted ways with it.
