Does your detector produce a sound or a tone? This video is a start to show the sound ability of the Deus. For a long time, I have suggested that the Deus sound contains far more information than the tone of most other machines. I hit a tot lot today, and while I didn't hit any shiny, I did get a chance to show the sound of the do, and why I call it a sound, not a tone.

In this video, I attempt to show, live, the 3 sounds of the Deus 2 detector. When going over a target slowly, you hear 3 sounds. At the fringe, you have the start, fringe, and tone. In this video, you can hear the starting sound, or the sound when the coil first detects the returning Eddy. On trash, it starts generally with an iron grunt, a broken trash, then a tone. At a normal speed, most of this is missed, and only the tone is heard. If the VDI matches the tone, chances are you'll dig. Slow down, and you'll hear the sound, not just the tone. I recover very little trash. Maybe 2 pieces for a hut. The rest are keepers.

Unfortunately, I hit no gold. Had I hit something shiny or even solid, like a coin, pendant, ring, or even a chan, the sound would have remained the same from first detection to the end of the detection. A wiggle back does a very good job of exposing the full sound.

I plan to hit some more tot lots tomorrow, and maybe that golden egg is waiting. I will record it, and you will be able to tell which is good and which is bad.

This is meant to bring up the distinction between sound and tone.
