I live out in a rural area (the sticks) and the property across the road from mine was were my Grandmother lived. The house dates to at least 1855. I have permission to hunt the yard and have done so several times. The oldest coin so far is an 1902 IHP.
Today I tried for a short time and pulled these two nice coins plus several new pennies. The Buff is 1937. The Merc is the 5th one I have found there.
I have to believe there is something older here, I just haven't been able to get my coil over it.

Good job. With old homes I’ve found near the home has all been filled. I’ve had better luck for the old stuff farther away from the house. Good luck.

That Merc is very crisp, what a beauty. Congrats, nice save on the Buff as well. Sounds like you're just scratching the surface. Good luck on your return.

I agree, further away can be better.
