Red brown Color

Maybe iron or clay content in the soil. Maybe its the clad coating on the surface of the coin wearing off.

So the coins are stained with iron oxide? If I know what it is I could find a product get rid of it. Even with tumbling the red primer colored ones are the last to come clean. Rob

Tried it, it doesn't work. So far, tumbling as been the only way. I'm not one of the guys who spend $3.50 for cleaning compound for a tumbler to clean 45 cents in pennies. If it cost me more to clean the clad than what it's worth I'd throw the clad away. Rob
