Went back to the spot where I found my wheatie spill the other day and found another coin spill! Two toasted wheaties, 1880 and 1889 IHC's and a silver dime. I'll post pics of the pennies tomorrow, but I just had to post pics of the dime tonight. It was kind of grungy, but I could see that it was an 1878 seated dime. Very good find, but even better after I rinsed it off. I could definitely see the very tiny "cc" on the reverse! Yup, it's a Carson City dime! My first after 10 years of metal detecting. Mintage of only 200,000 and in very nice condition. Safe to say, I'll be back at this spot again tomorrow!

Nice looking coin. How do you go about cleaning that thing?

I'm not going to clean it any more, but I think one of the coin grading companies offers a cleaning service that won't destroy the value of the coin. I'll have to look into it ASAP.

Thought you guys would like this one! Not many on eBay right now or over the last three months. Damaged copies seem to be going for $90 to $250 or so. Must be hard to find!

Nice one Tim! Been fortunate enough to dig a few CC's in my career, including on semi-key dime. Congrats on yours, hoping there's plenty more out there for ya!

Wow, I can't believe these are actually dug around here. Thought mine was unique! Gotta find some more to catch up to you!

Great find Tim......book value around $300.

Very cool! Probably the second most valuable coin I ever dug. My 1785 bar cent is more valuable, but it's in horrible shape and not worth grading. Might send this one off, though. Probably come back "environmental damage" or "cleaned", but it would look great encapsulated.
