“Novice detectorist”. Odd. Several treasure magazines paid me money to buy articles I wrote, over 20 of them, probably before you ever saw a detector. That’s your argument? Depth range? . Yea boy that’s what I wanna do, spend all day digging 14” for nickels and canslaw. Who’s the novice? I paid the DP on the house I’m in (value over 900k now) by cashing in my gold and silver finds. And “my buddies manticore “ ? Firstly he’s not my buddy. And if his manticore “smashed on” those 14” targets where are they? Sorry if I bruised your ego, but I’ll give you an open invitation. Any time you want to bring your manticore up to Nantasket beach (all 3 miles of it) and prove your theory against me, I’m happy to oblige. And before you start making excuses please reread my reply to the original post where I affirmed we’re talking about beach hunting. Two Saturdays ago I watched yet another manticore owner leave the beach frustrated. As Willie Mascone said “give me a straight broom stick and I’ll run the table, and sweep the floor afterwards.” Please, come educate me. Open offer to anyone.

This is kind of funny because yesterday I was at the beach after dinner with My Elite. I took my 11" coil off and put the stock 12x9 back on and was there for low tide. There was one other there with a Manticore. I did not see him dig once. We were in the same area. I left with $2.50 in change, a 14K gold earing and a 14K gold belly piercing cross with a small diamond in the center. I tested the diamond when I went home and it was real. He was shocked that he wound up blanked. I still like The Manticore but I will swear by my Elite. Just have to get past the clicks and beeps at times but it finds what's there!

Congrats on your your good location and fresh drops - 20% of whatever you paid for your $900k house is impressive. Unfortunately, that hasn’t made you become a better detectorist.

Also, the depth performance is just one example. If you believe that the Elite will perform as well as the Manticore in unmasking, then you’re the only person on the planet that does.

I’m missing your point. Are you claiming that the Manticore would have missed those gold targets if swung over them?

Here’s what matters. The Manticore will find every target that the Elite can find. Conversely, the Elite will not find every target that the Manticore will find.

It's not confusing me in the least. I am not saying that the Elite is a better machine, I am saying that it will find 90% of what the manticore will find and for the other 1" deeper, Oh well better next time. I'm not saying that the Manticore wouldn't have picked up what I found if he went over it, but he didn't I did so his $1,000.00 extra cost was money not well spent yesterday. Most Targets on these beaches here are mostly new drops with some yes older drops that are deeper so my machine is enough to keep up with the most expensive machines. You can argue that all you want I have the jar full of rings and earrings to prove it and I am happy what I have. But again, I will still own the Manticore soon but mostly for some of the added features.

You know, the targets that the Elite will miss. Like I said, all modern detectors will detect your fresh drops.(Not about what you find). The Manticore will find what you will miss with the Elite.

You should actually downgrade to a new Vanquish, since you only find fresh drops.

We’ve tested every modern SMF detector since the 800/600 came out, with the exception of the D2 and L2, in mild to moderate sand. Hundreds of targets. There are plenty of us that have.

You should really keep an eye on your morning drinking.

Glory days. . My humble apology. I confused you with the genius. So far he/she has called me a clown. A novice, a drunk. I suspect an accusation of being a former member here who was banned, and other names not worth mentioning. Actually the name “Friendly” forum was what attracted me to Maxine a member. Seems like it needs a new name. And he/she has apparently never read the rules or doesn’t care about them. I guess CW has a fragile ego the size of Alaska. A brain the size of Rhode Island. Still blathering about the manticore will find 100% of what an Elite will when I posted a test showing the manticore NOT detecting a target the elite does. But I suppose the guy doing the test is stupid like I am.. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion BUT NOT their own facts.
So I just got back from the beach and I’m chugging my morning vodka and watching Doubloon Lagoon’s new video, with his MANTICORE, and I’m thinking he hasn’t dug a single target deeper than one scoop. And the more I think about it his buddies all have manticores and it’s rare to see any of them take more than two or three.
To wrap up, I still invite anyone to come hunt with me with their manticore. I love saying “see. I told ya so.” AND, the only reason I mentioned the value of my home is because I know how these whiney little bishes who love to argue to compensate for their lack of skill and intelligence operate. Had I just said I made my down payment on my house with mostly cash from selling my finds, CW would have said “well I hope you’re enjoying your double wide.” So the county bumpkin can put another notch in his/her keyboard for driving another member away. I see no need to return here or recommend it to anyone else.
