I found these powder flask halves within the past couple of years (1831 half dollar for scale). I'm posting them because today's hunt got rained out and I'm pretty bored sitting inside. Sometimes I look through my finds for inspiration. Yesterday I spent 8 hours hiking in the woods with a 20 pound backpack on and came up empty-handed. That's not to say I wasn't on the trail as I saw evidence of 1700's debris.
Interesting how they seem to be intentionally flattened out. Maybe when they start to leak and let in moisture, they might have used them for decorative purposes. I haven't even washed them off with water yet. It's also interesting what they consider to be a proper hunting motif. Still haven't found the top pour piece to the flask so I'm wondering if that part gets recycled.
