Possible die cud error? 1973 Washington Quarter

I was detecting my local park and I found this super odd quarter. It has a massive hump right on Washington’s face. Only the front of the coin is effected. Tell me what you guys think.

Yeah im puzzled too because if it was damage, the other side would be caved in too.

Looks to me like heat damage causing a separation in the obverse clad layer.

That is a campfire quarter. High temps cause the cladding to bubble. I have found several around campfire pits at a Boy Scout camp.

Definitely not a cud error. Die wouldn’t do that to a coin.
