I had a good season for hot peppers. My Habaneros went crazy and they are bigger than normal. I have already harvested the ripe ones and dried them. I'm making pepper powder and I'm smart enough to know you don't do this inside. After drying I took my little grinder outside to grind up the peppers. I wore gloves, and a face mask. Gloves worked, mask didn't. When I took the lid off the grinder, well let me tell ya, teargas is nothing compared to this stuff. Hacking, wheezing, coughing, watering eyes and some of the best pepper powder I have made. I made some Chili and used 1/16th tsp., and it definitely got your attention.:waytogo::coolinoff: I also grew some Scotch Bonnets and will be making hot sauce out of them. HOT 1.jpgHOT .jpg

👍Yeah, you have to be careful with that stuff. But it toughens you up, too.
And if you’ve done everything right, the savory taste is priceless.
For everything else, there’s American Express..😄

Harvested some more yesterday and they are huge! I see them quite often at the grocery stores and they are about the size of a quarter. Most of mine are larger than an Ike dollar. Half will be sliced rings and dried and I'm gonna try my hand at making a hot sauce. :waytogo::coolinoff:Big.jpgBigger.jpg

I've gotten sorta used to the heat over time. Oh it is still very hot, but now it wears off quicker. And you're right about ulcers. Knock on wood, I haven't had heartburn in years.

Becareful Bill, a friend of mine grew her own and she ended up in emergency room, she still eats them but burned a hole in her stomach. She would eat hot peppers breakfast, lunch and dinner...

Remember hot going in, hot going out. I hate hot food will not eat it myself.

Oh, I know they can and do cause issues if you're not careful. A long time ago I ate a whole Habanero, and it was not a good choice on my part. It was painful. Now I just use them in things like chili and add just enough to get your attention.

I can not tolerate heat from hot peppers, Only chili I like comes from Naked Greens its got flavor but no heat, its all organic, we have lunch there every weekend. In fact I bought a quart of their turkey chilli as I no longer eat red meat. I don't miss it either, I miss hotdogs but I don't eat processed foods anymore either.

We are working on going away from red meat. Wife is better at not having it than I am. I'm not a steak eater, but slide a good smash burger towards me and it's gone in a heartbeat.
