A guy I work with asked me to search his field for a piece he lost off his corn picker. We didn't find it, but we did find these pieces. He said he doesn't know what it is, so I thought I'd ask if anyone here might know. They are both exactly alike....pictured is the front of one and the back of the other. We found them buried together.

My first thought was that it was a mold of some kind... but there are no holes to pour in a potential casting material. The fact it has shoulders on the ends in very interesting and the circle at the center would seem to indicate some kind of mounting potential. The indented shoulders look like they may have been intended to have a rope, cable or other guide line run across them perhaps for a pulley system or structural support of a building. I don't suppose there is any impressed writing anywhere???

It looks like it is cast iron or zinc? can you tell what it's made of by weight or metal color?

Another question is if they have been cleaned up. As in, were they rusted up? Or is this the condition you found them in? How big? How deep? Near any structures?

Sorry, I should have known to give the dimensions. They are 6" long, 2 1/2" wide and about 1" deep. They are pretty heavy and could be cast iron and they were pretty rusty but the guy whose field they were found in sandblasted them.
