The enclosed picture is from 2 separate hunts that I did to "kick off the new year" (16 and 17 January). I purchased a M8 Coil for my Manticore and wanted to hunt areas that I had already hunted for the first hunt. During that hunt (16 Jan) I went to a house that we have hit numerous times (4x+) and the first good target was an IHP spill...the 1908S and 1901 Indian Head pennies were stacked in the hole! Cool, went on to find a 1910S Wheat and other older wheats. Plus I found the 3.8 gram Sterling earring at the tail end of the hunt. Mind you, to create a baseline I hunted areas that we have POUNDED in the past....

Today (17 Jan) I hunted in an area that we have been to before, but I decided to go to a side street that I was not familiar with. In front of a boarded up "drug house" I started to hunt the curb strip and found a couple of Wheaties; good sign, I decided to move into the sidewalk side to the fenced front yard of the drug house and got a beautiful 92 signal....given I hadn't found a silver coin for the new year, I thought it was going to be a clad quarter, but after digging the target I saw the familiar silver rim of a quarter and I was very happy to see the front of a dated SLQ! 1918S SLQ, in great shape....after that I moved back over to the curb strip and got another 91-92 signal (again thinking clad or a Lincoln) but out popped a 1944D Washington! That alone would make my trip worth the while.

Going back to my vehicle I had spied a couple of curb strips that I wanted to hit and right off the bat I got a great 88 signal between the sidewalk and the curb strip, out popped the Sterling silver ring (2.1 grams), about 10 feet later I pulled the 1935D Merc and across the street I pulled the 1943S Merc.

A FIVE silver day is hard to do nowadays.....especially where I hunt! But a double IHP spill, Sterling earring, and the coins/ring for today makes it pretty amazing! 6 in two hunts plus the IHP spill is awesome.

HH and GL all!!

Holy Cow! What a great pair of detecting hunts! I know firsthand how hard it is to pull multiple silvers from that area, quite the accomplishment. Full date SLQ, Indians, and other Silvers and Sterling, great to see your success with that new M8 coil. Any idea for the great results so far?

Thanks David...the M8 hits hard on good targets though has the same ID profile of the stock coil. The pinpointing will take some time to get used to...it is more front-coil in it's targeting

Good news that it performs well. My friend Jason from Helena uses the 9" coil, he loves it and am pretty certain will never take it off his Manticore. And oh, I did get out a bit in Lewiston... cold and foggy, but I did pull a Merc and Sterling Silver thimble, along with about 20 wheat cents. A pretty poor Silver/Wheat ratio but delighted that I got that thimble and a dime.

Congrats David...you keep hovering up the silver!

Outstanding hunt for sure. To get a SLQ with a full date is almost unheard of these days. The key date IHP puts this hunt over the top cool. Congrats.

Appreciate it hoser! After going for almost a decade not finding a SLQ, I have found 5 in the last 1 1/2 years....strange. The IHP is really special since I rarely dig them on the Manticore.

Good play-by-play.

And as far as the '08s IH : Well OF COURSE we don't allow any of our key date S mints, to cross over east of the Mississippi river. Now do we ? Tsk tsk :friends: :cool3:

Congrats on a 5 silver day - almost unheard of these days. Love the old silver and IHP's. Glad you're able to get out. Snowbound and single digits here. Here's wishing you continued success in 2026.
