The Raider coil swing feels a bit heavy to me. The Viper coil should feel a bit lighter on the Vortex and more balanced. I’d be interested how well it performs compared to the Raider coil. I hope you let us know how how you like it.
Garrett should thank you for your efforts in continuing to perform product testing that finds the vortex’s issues.

Honestly I have a busy mind. I'm a big kid, 46 years old. I just enjoy trying other detectors and testing them. It's part of the hobby to me.
If i am going all out and wanting to use the best performing detector I swing my deus 2. I find it rewarding to mess around with detectors to see how well they will perform.
So yes some may see me as wasting money. I see it as keeping my mind in a positive place. Having a busy mind can be troublesome lol!

I agree, I have to keep busy. I spend more time testing than I do actual hunting anymore. My wife and I take care of my mother (dementia) so it is hard for me to get away, but I can play with detectors in our yard and test the in;s and out's. That is half the fun of metal detectors to me. Many that I have owned saw very little if any actual hunt time.

If i could chose 1 coil it would be the Raider, however if i could chose 2 it would be the Viper and the Reaper based on how they perform on my Apex.The Reaper really has incredible depth and is super stable in the wet ocean sand so i use most of the time and on such a light detector it swings similar to a minelab with an 11 inch coil but with greater depth but if your going to be knee deep or deeper the Viper is so easy to swing especially when the wave is pulling back at you.
