New To The Forum

I went, found most of my $1.12 at the ramp. I hit the beach for an hour and picked up 3 dimes and trash. I was going to take a trip around the lake but ran out of time. We'll have to get together sometime.
Sounds good. I was able to slip my leash, for a few hours, and head to a nearby park. I worked it for 3-4 hours and managed $4.33! That's almost $1.24 an hour (about what I made per hour at my first job in 1976 ).

Nice haul. Better than mine. I'm dying to get back out. I did find a ring in my yard the other day. That was exciting.

I've gone out to some public areas near me, and I had about the same level of success. My last haul netted me about .35 cents in clad and a bag full of trash. This after about three hours "work." But I did have my first sighting of another detectorist (that wasn't on an organized / pay hunt) in the wild. Almost like a Sasquatch, when he saw me he retreated to cover and left.😆

Also went gold panning at Coker Creek. Done that twice now, and I actually found some gold. Of course, you needed a microscope to see it (literally), but it was there.

I've been wanting to do that gold panning. I found a place in GA that looked good. It's a pay to play place.

We have done the Ruby mining and enjoyed that.

I've been out most everything day swinging the detector lately. Found a silver cross pendant one day. I'm trying to master this Nokta Legend. It's coming along. Although it has started having a charging issue. I'm waiting to hear back from Nokta.

Hi...new here, And at 72 it's rare to be "new" at anything. Last time detecting was about 20 years ago. Technology is a little better to say the least, I live in the western mountain area of Maine...16 miles from Canada. I have done some gold panning here, and have done ok. Looking forward to some help from a machine. Have ordered an x-terra elite to get started. Lots of good info in this forum. Having fun reading.

Welcome to the forum, Jack9211. Gold panning in Maine is something I would never have thought of. You'll find lots of help and great info in this forum.

Coker Creek is like your place in GA. Like much of TN, you have to know people to get access to places you don't have to pay to play (or pan / metal detect legally).

I hope you get your charging issue sorted out. Nice find with the cross too. I went out today, for a few hours, to a park that I've been to before. Managed $4.33 in clad. Woohoo! Three years in and I've made back about .01% of what I paid for my Legend. 😆

You're on your way to paying it off so you can get a Legend 2. 🤣

Detecting at Coker Creek? For gold? I have read about doing that in the past. Sounds like it is still a thing.

My woes have increased with my Legend have worsened. I believe it's a faulty charging circuit and will have to send it back to Nokta for repair. I would just buy a Legend 2 but I have to much invested in The Legend (extra coils, etc.) to abandon it. I'm waiting for them to tell me to send it in. I have a repair ticket started.

Sorry that's the case with your Legend. I had to look-up the incompatibility of Legend coils to the Legend 2. I had no idea (mostly because I wasn't that interested since I'm still happy with my Legend). That is a shocker to be quite honest. I hope you have a backup detector to use while you wait for the repairs to be made.

I do have a backup 🙂. I'm hoping for a better turnaround time than I had with a S&W repair job. That took 5 months to straighten out. I think the only thing about the Legend I don't like is the VDI scale. I was just learning to use the dt and beast modes when I had to send it in. I think those two modes are going to make a huge difference in finding deep targets that have been missed.

I would like to thank the admin's for approval. Thank you.

I am newly retired and looking to get out hunting in East Tennessee. I don't like FB, and I am glad to have found this forum. I have a Garrett Ace 400 and I just bought a Notka Legend. I'm in the Chattanooga area. Looking to find members and some areas to hunt.
Welcome from PA!

Well I sent my Legend in for repairs, it was repaired and is on it's way back to me. They put in a new battery and connector board. I can't believe it was taken care of this quick. Kudos to the service department at Nokta.

Wow! That was quick. 👍 Nice work, Nokta.

I hope that takes care of the problems you have been experiencing. You'll have to get out with it for "testing."😉 I went out to a park today for a couple of hours. Came back .85 cents richer, and found half of a 1993 TN license plate (also found an old bike buried in the ground - only one pedal and the crankset were above ground). Schools are either out now, or next week, so the public hunting grounds will need to change.

Good luck!

I checked the tracking, it slated to be delivered tomorrow. I am anxious to see how it performs. The tech said it picked up a silver dime at 10 inches. So maybe I will find something long lost and missed silver in a schoolyard. We should get together at a school and worked it over someday.

That sounds like a great plan. I would be interested in seeing how my Legend works compared to another.
