Ok, I go way back to Fisher Gold Bug and the big square garrett control boxes, AT Pro, CTX3030, 800, XP Deus 2 and now the Manticore.

I hunt civil war relics, old coins, jewelry at totlots and volley ball courts. The two latter a so easy anyone can find the goodies with a $300 detector.

I bought my XP Deus 2 two months after it became available. About a year later came the Manticore. I basically ignore the Manticore because I was consumed with learning the XP Deus 2 and it does take some learning. I hunt with the XP Deus 2, stereo earphones, latest update and the 9 x 5.5 HF coil. It is a fine machine. Easy to use? I thought so, until I just recently got my Manticore. Wow! I cannot say enough about the large screen 2X bigger than the XP Deus 2. The graphical Interface menu structure is the very best I have ever used. It is darn near perfect in my opinion.

Capabilities? Well those have been well documented on this and other forums. Am I going to sell my XP Deus 2 and coils. No chance. Having two of the top tier detectors in the world is a good feeling. My lack of finds on any given site is either site related or operator deficiencies (meaning me).

This will probably be the shortest learning curve of any detector i have used on just navigating the screens. Second just using chatgpt to find what to do with the manticore is way better than thumbing though the page of the manual. But I will admit reading carefully the part of the manual you are seeking to learn is still the best way to do it. I still have a long way to go to get the deep silver audio sounds in my brain. That has always been my weak link.

Anyway, I am a very happy camper here or I should say happy detectorist. Lance would have been absolutely thrilled with the Manticore.

Yeah almost, ML forcing us to buy it without a coil size choice and not using Bluetooth wireless SUCKS.
Highly recommend the 9" coil as mentioned above. I have zero reasons to ever put the 11" back on. I had the D2 with the 9" and it was a great detector PLUS no $300 11" coil under my bed collecting dust that you'll never be able to sell because everyone has one and most DON'T WANT THEM. Like ML cares..

Yeah I prefer the 9" coil a lot. But use the 11 and 15" a lot because if you watch beach detecting vids those guys miss a lot of ground. Vid i watched yesterday they were missing 2 feet of ground a swing with the 9 inch. Low competition 9 inch. I severely hate the 11" coil design though. Wish they'd make an 11 just like the 9 and admit they screwed up.

Yep. The proprietary Bluetooth implementation is my top complaint about the manticore. I have but-kicking low-latency Sennheiser ear buds that I bought for my equinox that don't work directly with the manticore. I had to buy a Bluetooth transmitter to run between the two. Works OK, but it's another thing to recharge and lose track of.

Ugh I've heard lots of accounts of the pain trying to get other headphones working with minelab. I'm a headphone nerd as well, but it sounds like a pain to get them set up, and the latency.

My 105's are breaking, and that's my fault for leaving one cup off the ear and causing stress on the other ear. Don't do that! I've taped the plastic back together. Kind of a bummer with the price.

Congrats! The Minelab Manticore is a game changer for sure!
