Good deal, pawn shop must have got it for $100 or less
I don't know how these shops work. When she pulled it off the wall she said she could let it go for $179. I got some new batteries from her and a few coins and took it outside to test it.

i came back in and asked what her very best price was. She said "what i said before, $169."

I only replied that that sounded good to me.

Then she told me they had $250 invested in it but just wanted it gone. The machine had a sticker on it with a descending list of dates and prices.

It apparently arrived 09/30/24. Had a price of $399 on it.

Then the list said:

12/29. $319

03/29. $255

06/27. $204

09/25. $163

Not sure what that means. Perhaps someone hocked it and made some payments to hopefully recover it later?

tough to believe they would take a $70 loss but I guess its possible, they sure would go out of business if that trend continued. Time of year could be a factor in demand, would have sold in summer, which is the time to flip it if you do.

Congrats John! Sounds like you got a great deal. Be careful - you may want to end up keeping it. :)
Put it on marketplace for $345. Fellow offered me a tad less and I drove 25 miles to meet him and he didn't show.
I'll likely take it home to Michigan and pick up some headphones for it. My nearby detector store is likely to have an inexpensive used pair available.
Glad this machine has volume control, it is loud!

It seems pretty chatty.
