Over the last year I always go by this house but have never seen anyone out front and it looks abandoned. But a few days ago they were two trucks with men working and cleaning it up. I decided to double back and ask. It was the husband of the wife who owns the property. After giving him one of my permission cards and telling him a little about myself and what I do he gave me verbal permission to check it out as they were getting ready to rent it out. He also give me his cell # which I sent him my permission business card. After checking out the mostly just the front yard I found a lot of modern coins and some newer dimes. Went over 100% of the yard with my Equinox 900 with stock coil sensitivity at 20 and found a 1917S and 1942S Mercury dimes in XF condition. Ground felt like it was rototillered as it was a little clumpy and soft with dead grass even with no rain. There was a lot of iron in the ground and decided to hit most of the hotspots again but this time with my XTerra Pro with the 6" sniper coil (from the Equinox). Was able to crank the sensitivity to 25 max and I found a deep old buffalo nickel and a large narcotic token marked 1 year. The equinox missed both of these! Probably because of all the iron in the group as the 7" deep nickel did sounded a little choppy but readable even with the 6" coil. What do you guys think? As agreed I sent the homeowner a pic of my finds but he did not want any of them : )

I still need to hit the old barn in the back this week!

I'll be posting a video soon on my youtube channel... Stay tuned!

Looks like your first is going to be a memorable hunt, good for you! Permissions are the only way to find anything good nowadays, keeps us pegged to the rest of your finds. NICE!

Exact Mark! I double check with the owner about checking out the barn area and he said OK! He was excited to see what was in the front yard! It was interesting that I did nort
Buffalos aren't the easiest coins to find...and you get one on your first try at a new place...I should be angry, but I'll go with envious instead. :p
Congrats on that one, as well as the silver mercs. With hope the site will continue to pay out.
I went back yesterday and was disappointed with the backyard. 90% of the area has fill dirt and then heavy rock topping so all I found was modern coins... 4 dimes and 15 pennies with the oldest being 1970. Hit the front yard in spots again but I pretty sure I got it all. Still a good haul. Today I am going to another area where two houses used to be but have been torn down for some reason. Will get video of that hunt too. The previous video will be posted hopefully this coming Monday!

I posted the video of these finds on my YouTube channel today if you want to check it out... I did not realize how emotional I got when finding these four coins and token! My wife says I cry watching cartoons... Ok, maybe a little ; ) I am a supporter of this forum, so I'm not sure they will let me post the actual url link?

I just ordered a 15" coil on Amazon ($125) and will hit the front yard one more time with it once I get it this Friday. Since the yard was hit with a rototiller there may be some coils just out of reach of the stock coil? Will also see how it does with the electro interference from the substation across the street?!

UPDATE:

I went back to the same homesite above with the 15" EQX15 coil and found GOLD! 🏆 But only after getting another permission to do so. I'm glad I got their cell number because the property is still not rented out, and I haven’t seen them return since I last spoke with the homeowner.

If you check out my next video, you’ll see I had problems pinpointing properly with the 15" EQX15... but why? 🤔 I’m sure glad I rechecked the target that I had originally given up on with the stock 11" Equinox 900 coil!
