Last week I posted pics of 3 crotal bells and mentioned that my hunting buddy found 2 Jesuit rings and other things. Here are the pics of a one day hunt my friend found. By the way, he found the second Jesuit ring less than 10 seconds after he found the first one. Gotta be some kind of world record for ring finds. Also keep in mind that all these finds date back to the 1650's or so found on a site where a large Indian village once stood with Jesuits living amongst them.

The reversed penny threw me for a few seconds until I realized the picture is reversed.
I was starting to think it was some super rare die error and maybe worth big money.

Reversed pic

LOL, yeah, I forgot to mirror the image. I had my camera held in such a way that the image came out reversed.

The copper point you have there, I don't think had anything to do with the Jesuits.. Could be way older than your other finds.. Might be from the copper culture of the great lakes region..

Well, let me put all your minds at rest for those of you who might be envious of these fines and maybe even a little jealous. Because I'm right there with you.
Today, my hunting friend and I spent almost 5 hours in those fields. He found 4 more Jesuit rings and two beautiful really tiny crotal bells. Am I jealous, betch'er ass I am. All I found were 3 musket balls. One was really tiny, maybe from a musket type pistol. He is just that good. He bests me every time we hunt, no matter where it is we hunt. I said let me see one of those rings, I buried it about 6 inches back into the ground. Ran my F75se over it and got a great response. Definitely a dig signal all the way. He just seems to be able to hit the right spots. So him 6 Jesuit rings and me a sad natta.

You might be right. I am up in the great lakes region of my state. I did read up on the history of the Indians of that period and there was mention of copper arrow heads being used. But the article also said it could have been from the copper given to them by the Jesuits. The Jesuits were heavily into trading with the Indians to try and set up a friendly relationship with them. They handed out those Jesuit rings and crotal bells like they were candy. It also said that the Indians made lots of trinkets from the copper to hang on their clothing. By the way, the Jesuits eventually met with disaster from the Indians, and by the 1670's or so they completely left the region.
