My new Manticore will be here tomorrow so, I’m trying to bet a head start on setting it up. What are you guys assigning to the soft keys ?

Good question.
Try and setup the keys to what you need handy the most.
Noise cancel is a good one !!
Horseshoe another. Especially if you pan to hunt with horseshoe off.
The accept reject selection, be careful with that one. Why? You hit the soft key with that assigned accidentally you’ll be randomly assigning disc/notch. And if your eyes aren’t that good you may keep swinging unknowingly and possibly miss a desirable target.
Try to use the easier accessed keys assigning what you’ll use more often ..this offers one hand ops vs button up on side of detector. Button the side assigned soft key option hard to do one handed.
Good luck.
You bought a very capable unit.

Since you are new to the manticore the last thing you need is to start changing and adding things. Run it stock and learn it. It’s light years ahead of the ATP.

Personal preference, but the first thing I did was change the one below the screen on the right to noise cancel since I do that every time I turn it on. Plus it eliminates the possibility of accidentally rejecting something like TNSS mentioned.

I’m not intending to make any major changes to the settings. I’m just trying to decide which functions I want easy access to. Simple basic functions like noise cancel, ground balance etc. Just interested in what others found to be the most useful way to set them up.

Push the up button twice and your on noise cancel, 3 times and your in ground balance. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Ground balance and noise cancel for the front two as I use them the most, the most important thing is to change the reject/accept to anything else! You have no idea how often I come across a new user who has accidentially "rejected" random numbers on their screen without knowing what they have done!
